Generally, when you send your dress shirts to the dry cleaners, there is a chance they will just wash and press your shirt rather than going through the ‘special’ dry cleaning operation if they don’t find it necessary. So, your shirt is simply machine washed and then pressed as it’s still damp.
The easiest and cheapest way to keep your dress shirts crisp at home:
- Place your dress shirts in a washing machine (follow care label instructions)
- Remove from wash
- Snap it – To ensure there are no creases in the dress shirt.
- Press while damp (for best results) – Using an iron is the best home method to press a dress shirt. Please follow care label instructions for the correct iron temperature.
- Hang it – Most recommended are wooden or plastic hangers to decrease the chance of wrinkles.
